My Little Teva Girl

This picture was taken at her cousin’s graduation from high school.

If you look hard enough you can tell the toenails are painted different colors. That’s my Eloise.

The Floppy Hat

Eloise loves to wear her mom’s floppy hat.
We were hiking up on North Mountain
when I took these photos.

It’s Skywatch Friday and the Sky is Missing

Always before I have posted skies which were blue or blue with clouds. This day it was totally gray with no sky visible, and up there in the mountains you felt like you were in another time and place. The gray which usually is dull and not much to look at today took on a totally different aura. It was magical.

Point of Departure up on the Blue Ridge Parkway ~ Rainy and Chilly

That pack was so heavy (30 lbs)...maybe because of all the rain gear, tent, food, etc. How he carries it I do not know. He only weighs 130 lbs.
Amazing!

 Off He Goes

Sometimes putting him on the trail is hard...especially when it is weather like this.

He turned around to give me that final wave.

Fencing at Highland Belle

Buddy now rides his trusty bike the 7 miles from the house to my old school track, and then he runs the track for heaven only knows how long. After that he rides back to the house. During this time I am sitting on our front porch drinking coffee and listening to the creek.

Sunset on the Porch

Come Sit with Me
This is the time of year when sitting ouside with a friend, companion, or mate is a special pleasure. The days are not too hot and if there is water trickling by it makes it even nicer.

Out of Commission for a Bit

Dear Friends...
I am out of commission for a bit. Buddy is about to hike for 2 weeks here in Virginia, my 20 year old grandchild is here until Tuesday when he reports as a main counselor at Camp Maxwelton, and the younger one, Henry, comes on Friday for the start of the 4 week camp. Willy, the middle one, is in Colorado working at the Stanley Hotel for the summer, but his RA has flared up and may have to return. We are all so worried about him. Hoping it is just jet lag at  the moment and he will perk up.The other grandmother is ill with blood clots in her leg and is in a rest home for a week or so after surgery. Life is helter skelter for me right now. Sorry I have not been commenting as usual, but there really is not time for me to get to my computer. All I can say is thank you so much for being my friends, following my blog, and helping me so much with my photography. I feel so fortunate to have all of you along side me on this challenging  journey.Take care, post those pictures, and I will keep looking at them each night before I go to bed. I am thinking of all of you and hope you are having a nice summer.

Iris in Black and White

My iris plants have finished blooming, and this is one of the last shots I got this year. I went back and forth between monochrome and color and finally decided on the black and white. It is a bit sad, but there is always next year.

I do not know about you all, but Blogger has ramped up its “mess” we are supposed to decipher. I am so tired of it. Now, I just click on the circle over and over again until I find one I can read, but a lot of the time I just let it go and move on.  I do feel that more people have opted out from the word verification. THANK YOU! I just wish everyone would stop. It is a big pain in the neck which I can do without.

Old Picket Fence 2

Last week I showed my daughter’s house from the front with the old timey picket fence and roses. This is the driveway section of that fencing.

The End Came ~ I am FREE

The Cellblock is CLOSED!

It was a beautiful day for my last day at Rockbridge Middle School this year. It is still up for grabs if the school board will refund my position for ’12-’13 which just happens to be the LAST year of our school. It will be sold or rented out. We will move to a consolidated middle school in Lexington. I usually hear the week before school starts that I still have a job. This year I will be happy either way. I started this profession at 20 and I am now 73. Maybe it is time to pull the plug and let me really be retired.

Reserved for Buses and Genie
The one spot to the right of the sign is for any spare buses that show up in the afternoon. Being the old lady I am, my principal lets me park in that spare bus slot. If school were in session and a driver needed that spot, the driver who always gets there first would come inside, get my keys, and move it for me.

Yep, on my last day of the year I parked
my trusty old Pontiac Vibe right there.
